Panthers | DeAngelo Williams will play

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 12:44:06 -0800

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 14, and is probable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Even with a nice price of $3,700 in FantasyScore, Williams should probably be avoided this week since he may not be at full strength. Jonathan Stewart may end up getting more work as the game goes on, and should be considered for your roster.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams doesn't do much

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 09:22:52 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams had only eight carries for 20 yards in the Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints Thursday, Oct. 30, in his first game back after missing four straight contests with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers likely wanted to ease Williams back into game action, but regardless, this is a backfield that will continue to include Jonathan Stewart when he's healthy. Williams and Stewart are midrange flex plays, at best, each week.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams to start

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 10:42:59 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) will start the team's Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints Thursday, Oct. 30, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($4,100; 8.2% of cap) could be a nice sleeper option for your FantasyScore lineups if you're willing to trust him in his first week back against a poor Saints defense. Jonathan Stewart ($4,300) should still see carries, but he's much less attractive with Williams back in the fold.

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is still expected to start Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints. He may not see a whole lot of playing time coming off the injury and with Jonathan Stewart still in the mix. You can probably do better than his $4,100 price on FantasyScore.

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 08:28:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is expected to return in Week 9 Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Williams isn't a great play on FantasyScore at face value. However, the Panthers' running back situation, and his likely inexpensive price tag, make him a viable flex option next week.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams ruled out

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 10:34:30 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Williams wasn't expected to play. Jonathan Stewart ($4,300; 8.6% of cap) should see the bulk of the carries against the Seahawks this weekend, but he's not a smart play at FantasyScore.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams out again

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 13:26:05 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) didn't practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's not looking like Williams ($4,100) will play in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks. Avoid him at FantasyScore. Jonathan Stewart ($4,300) is expected to shoulder the load, but he's not a great option, either.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams sitting out

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 09:45:16 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: It does not look like Williams will be able to play in Week 8 at this point, but things could change over the next few days. If he does not play, Jonathan Stewart likely will receive most of the work at running back and could be a nice cheaper option at the flex option for owners on FantasyScore since he only costs $4,300.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams to return this week?

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 11:49:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) will reportedly return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily mean Williams will be able to play Week 8. Keep tabs on his status throughout the week. If Williams is unable to go, Jonathan Stewart would probably get another start.

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is a few weeks away from returning to the field, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: It is not a surprise that Williams will not play. He should not be considered in FantasyScore this week. If Jonathan Stewart is healthy enough to play, he is expected to get most of the work out of the backfield.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams sits

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 09:49:25 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is not likely to play in the team's Week 6 game. Jonathan Stewart is likely to get most of the work if he can get on the field, with both Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya contributing depending on the health of Stewart. This is probably a situation to avoid this week in FantasyScore.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart getting closer

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 10:05:52 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is closer to returning than RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle), according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Stewart can get on the practice field before deciding on their lineup. Stewart probably would be the starter in Week 6 if he is active, but he may still be limited. Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya received work during the team's Week 5 game and probably would share carries again if Stewart is not able to play.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams out

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 07:14:15 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is out for Week 5, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Darrin Reaves ($3,000; 6% of your cap) is expected to start and makes a bare-minimum flex option on FantasyScore. Chris Ogbannaya could also figure into the mix, but now there are reports Jonathan Stewart (knee) could return. Stewart ($3,600; 7.2% of your cap) would be a decent bargain bin flex option if he's able to suit up.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams doubtful

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 09:46:09 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is doubtful to play in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Williams is still sore, but he doesn't have any structural damage.

Fantasy Tip: As if the Panthers needed another injury to their backfield. Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert are also both out. That'll likely leave them with Darrin Reaves as the main ball carrier in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams likely to sit

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 06:23:29 -0700

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is "week to week", but his status for Week 5 against the Chicago Bears is in serious doubt.

Fantasy Tip: Darrin Reaves would figure to get the bulk of the work. He's worth a flier in case you catch lightning in a bottle, but he's probably not worth a start unless desperate next week.

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 11:59:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the team's Week 4 game and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: The team was thin at running back before the injury to Williams and now only has Darrin Reaves and Tauren Poole healthy. It is not known if Williams or Jonathan Stewart will be able to play in Week 5, so owners will need to watch for updates on both players.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is inactive Sunday, Sept. 28, for Week 4.

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 12:16:19 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is probable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Williams should get most of the work in Week 4, and may be worth a flex start at best. With a FantasyScore price of $5,300 (10.6% of cap), it may be best to look elsewhere.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart practices

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 08:57:05 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) practiced Friday, Sept. 26, for the first time this week. According to Joe Person, Stewart "didn't look particularly spry." Person said he would "still be surprised" if Stewart plays in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: So would we. It looks like a combo of the underwhelming DeAngelo Williams ($5,300; 10.6% of FantasyScore cap) and Darrin Reaves ($3,700; 7.4%) will face the Baltimore Ravens. Williams is a desperation RB2, and Reaves is a last-ditch flex. Neither has much upside.

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:29:16 -0700

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams on the field

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 10:12:17 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Williams likely will receive most of the work if he is able to play in Week 4 because of the injuries to Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert. Williams costs $5,300 on FantasyScore this week, but may be too risky to use because he could be limited by the injury if he is active for the game.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart could miss a month

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 06:02:29 -0700

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) could miss a month due to his sprained knee, in the opinion of beat writer Joseph Person.

Fantasy Tip: DeAngelo Williams (thigh) re-enters the fold and has little to battle him. He's a must-own right now in standard leagues, but he is a matchup play. Darrin Reaves is a watch list player.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams may return

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 10:40:39 -0700

The Carolina Panthers are hoping RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) will be able to participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Williams missed the team's Week 3 game but may be ready to go this week. Williams likely would receive a lot of work if he is able to play since Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert are dealing with injuries. Williams could be a worthy option to use on FantasyScore for Week 4 depending on his price and if he is able to play.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams expected to play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 21:25:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (hamstring) is expected to be ready to play in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His injury had been called a thigh injury, but he said Friday, Sept. 19, that he has been battling a hamstring issue. He took reps with the first-team offense Friday, and appears ready to go barring a setback.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his improved outlook, he is still officially questionable and therefore a question mark in FantasyScore leagues. Let him prove his health in one full game before risking a roster spot on him.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams not a lock to play

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 16:20:38 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 19, but he's not a lock to play in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't risk Williams' $4,700 price tag at FantasyScore this weekend, especially since the Panthers have the late game Sunday evening. If you want to roll with the Carolina backfield, Jonathan Stewart ($5,100) is the better play.

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:15:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Williams may be able to play in the game but could also be limited or share carries because of the injury. Williams costs $4,700 on FantasyScore this week, but owners probably should consider other options since Williams is a big injury risk.

Panthers | DeAngelo Williams out again

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:50:47 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Williams was expected to return in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, two straight days of no practice doesn't look good for his chances of returning. Jonathan Stewart ($5,100) isn't a bad buy at FantasyScore if Williams is out again.
