Steelers | DeAngelo Williams not expected back

Sun, 29 Jan 2017 10:46:03 -0800

Impending free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams is unlikely to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers may have tipped this off when they signed Karlos Williams to a Reserve/Future contract last week, but DeAngelo Williams is set to turn 34 in April. Given Le'Veon Bell's recent issues and current contract status, Pittsburgh likely wants someone more dependable than the former Williams and younger than the latter Williams. Expect the Steelers to add a back in the draft in about three months.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams bottled up

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 18:57:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams rushed 14 times for 34 yards and a touchdown filling in for an injured RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Williams added 51 yards on seven catches.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is a free agent this March, and given how well he has played backing up Bell through the past few seasons, it stands to reason that Pittsburgh will look to offer him another contract. He is nothing more than a handcuff in deep leagues, however, when Bell is on the field.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams sits out

Wed, 04 Jan 2017 13:13:40 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is coming off a two-touchdown performance in Week 17 but will see limited touches in the Wild Card playoff game with Le'Veon Bell healthy. Owners should avoid Williams unless Bell suffers an injury at some point.

Steelers | Fitzgerald Toussaint to see solid work

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 09:50:13 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Fitzgerald Toussaint is expected to receive a solid amount of playing time against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. RB DeAngelo Williams is also expected to receive carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is coming off a knee injury and may be the first running back used so he can work his way back, but Toussaint could receive a majority of the carries during the game. Owners in deeper leagues may want to consider either running back as a flex option because of the favorable matchup.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams may be used often

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 10:35:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams may receive a solid amount of playing time in Week 17 because he missed several weeks with a knee injury, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

Fantasy Tip: Williams may be the starting running back with Le'Veon Bell sitting out and should receive most of the carries during the game. He played well earlier in the season and can be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option because of the matchup.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams likely to return Week 16

Tue, 20 Dec 2016 10:20:28 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) is expected to play Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Williams was supposed to play last week as well, but some fluid buildup in his surgically repaired knee led to him being inactive. He is merely a handcuff for Le'Veon Bell and probably won't see more than a touch or two this weekend with Bell playing as well as he ever has.
