Tue, 18 Jun 2013 06:12:56 -0700 Carolina Panthers RBs DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert received plenty of repetitions in OTAs with RB Jonathan Stewart (ankles) on the mend.
Thu, 13 Jun 2013 10:23:10 -0700 Carolina Panthers RB Kenjon Barner has looked explosive and fast in practice. They might figure out how to get the rookie into the backfield mix. Fantasy Tip: This would especially be true if Jonathan Stewart's ankles keep him out for much of their summer workouts. Barner is nothing more than a last-round flyer in deeper redraft leagues, but he's someone to watch over the long term.
Thu, 23 May 2013 11:53:12 -0700 Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was very limited during organized team activities Thursday, May 23. Fantasy Tip: Stewart is recovering from offseason ankle surgery and there is no rush for him to be on the field at this point. Stewart should be seen as a No. 3 running back at this point because he probably will be splitting carries with DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert.
Wed, 15 May 2013 06:07:24 -0700 The Carolina Panthers restructured RB DeAngelo Williams' contract. He was in the third season of a five-year, $43 million contract and was scheduled to earn $5 million with an $8.2 million salary cap number for 2013. Williams will still receive $5 million in cash this year, but the deal has been restructured in a way that reduces his cap number to $5 million, a cap savings of $3.2 million that leaves the team $8.46 million under their adjusted 2013 salary cap number of $126.232 million. Williams was scheduled to earn $4.75 million in non-guaranteed base salary with a $250,000 workout bonus this season. Under the renegotiated contract, Williams' base salary was lowered to $850,000 and his workout bonus reduced to $150,000. The remaining $4 million was converted to a signing bonus, which will be prorated against the Panthers' cap at $800,000 per season through 2017.
Sun, 05 May 2013 10:11:38 -0700 Carolina Panthers general manager David Gettleman did not rule out the possibility of trading RB DeAngelo Williams at some point.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:30:09 -0700 The Carolina Panthers could save $3.4 million in cap space if they designated RB DeAngelo Williams a post-June 1 cut. That would also add a significant amount of dead money on the 2014 salary cap.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:28:59 -0700 Carolina Panthers GM David Gettleman would not commit to whether RB DeAngelo Williams would be on the roster. "Right now, he's on the roster," said Gettleman."…None of us know if we're going to be here tomorrow."
Thu, 02 May 2013 11:50:14 -0700 The Carolina Panthers could restructure RB DeAngelo Williams contract, but it would likely not have a major impact on the team's salary cap situation.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 17:39:27 -0700 There were suggestions during the NFL owners meetings that Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams could still be on the trading block, and the team did not shoot down that notion.
Sat, 23 Feb 2013 11:44:08 -0800 The Carolina Panthers are hoping to keep RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart even though they are $10 million over the salary cap. The team believes they can retain Williams at his scheduled $5 million salary for 2013 and his $8.2 million cap figure.
