The St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays released P Shinji Mori on Jan. 18. Mori had been bothered during his entire stay in Tampa Bay by shoulder problems and a torn labrum.

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Devil Rays RP Shinji Mori (shoulder), who is not expected to pitch this season because of a torn right labrum, has decided to try a rehabilitation program instead of undergoing surgery, according to the Associated Press.

Bill Chastain, of DevilRays.MLB.com, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays RP Shinji Mori (shoulder) has a torn labrum, and will likely miss the 2006 season. "It's typically 12 months [for such an injury to heal]," said Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. "Until they get in and see the extent of the injury [the recovery time] is just a guesstimate at this point."

Updating a previous item, the Tampa Tribune reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays RP Shinji Mori (shoulder) was expected to throw in the bullpen Wednesday, Mar. 15. He's continuing to rehab his sore right shoulder and would progress to a simulated game and then a real game if his bullpen session goes well.
