The New York Jets have announced the team will honor retired LBs Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones during halftime of the Jets' home opener on Sept. 18, against the Miami Dolphins. Both players spent their entire NFL careers with the Jets before retiring on June 27. "It's rare today to have a player spend his entire career with one team, and in this instance, the Jets have two and it's a tribute to both gentlemen," said Jets general manager Terry Bradway.

Clayton Ferraro, of WINKtv.com, reports retired New York Jets LB Marvin Jones said he's considering pursuing a career in politics. Before he decides, he wants to figure out if he can help people more through his work in a public office or through his charitable foundation. Jones' charitable foundation just donated $5,000 to a local little league team in Estero, Florida.

Updating a previous report, according to NewYorkJets.com, LB Marvin Jones, who recently signed a contract with the New York Jets so he can officially retire as a Jet, ranks third in team history with 1,200 career tackles. Furthermore, Jones notched eight 100-plus tackle seasons in his career.

The New York Jets have announced the signing of LB Marvin Jones. Lewis will retire as a member of the team June 28. He was a first-round draft choice of the team in 1993.
