Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 12:38:33 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hamstring) is not starting Tuesday, July 7, against the Cincinnati Reds. 2B Danny Espinosa has shifted over to third for this game, and 2B Dan Uggla is at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) should be removed from your lineup until he is 100 percent. Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has a price tag that may be a bit high, but he is a .273 hitter against Reds starter Johnny Cueto.

Nationals | Ian Desmond sitting vs. Braves

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 13:49:59 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Ian Desmond is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 2. 2B Dan Uggla is playing second base and batting sixth, and 2B Danny Espinosa is batting second and filling in at shortstop against Atlanta Braves SP Manny Banuelos Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Desmond ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is reeling through an extremely disappointing season, and he cannot be started with confidence in daily contests. His year-long value is dwindling, too. Espinosa ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) continues to be a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore play, but there is upside hitting second. Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a .696 OPS through 94 plate appearances this season, so he is nothing more than a low-priced flier for daily games Thursday.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 11:58:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, June 27. INF Danny Espinosa will start at the hot corner and bat third, with 2B Dan Uggla manning second base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is sidelined due to a swollen hand, so Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will slide over from the keystone position to cover third base. Uggla $1,900, 3.8% of cap) is only batting .231 this month and is not a great FantasyScore option.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar injures hand

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 16:31:40 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) was removed from the game early with a hand injury Friday, June 26. 2B Dan Uggla entered the game at second base, shifting 2B Danny Espinosa to the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) appeared to be in quite a bit of pain after being hit by a pitch, but he remained in the game shortly before being removed. The Nats have been decimated by injuries recently, with Anthony Rendon (quadriceps) going on the DL today. Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will certainly be an everyday player with Rendon out, and Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) could become a starter, too, if Escobar's injury is serious. Espinosa is worth adding in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for middle infield depth, but Uggla should strictly be an NL commodity for desperate owners if Escobar goes on the DL, too.

Nationals | Dan Uggla draws into lineup vs. Cubs

Wed, 27 May 2015 14:12:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Dan Uggla is starting at second base and batting seventh against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has just 18 plate appearances in May, and against Jon Lester, Uggla should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief. He does have power potential, though.

Nationals | Dan Uggla sinks former mates

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 21:01:58 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Dan Uggla missed hitting for the cycle by a double, finishing with three hits in five at-bats with five RBIs Tuesday, April 28, against the Atlanta Braves, his former team.

Fantasy Tip: Uggla is still hitting just .190 overall this season, but five of his seven RBIs came in this game. FantasyScore owners shouldn't be too quick to forget he has been dismal pretty much the entire rest of the season. Still, at just $1,900 (or 3.8% of cap) he proved he can still be an effective option and post huge stat lines on occasion.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:02:46 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28, against the Atlanta Braves due to a hand laceration. 2B Danny Espinosa is at third base, while 2B Dan Uggla is at second base.

Fantasy Tip: For Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) this was an expected move. Espinosa ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will be a cheap source of production, and Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) should be avoided with a .135 batting average.

Nationals | Dan Uggla in the starting lineup

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 09:05:30 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Dan Uggla will start at second base Saturday, April 18. 2B Danny Espinosa will be the starting third baseman for the Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has struggled at the plate this season and will enter the game with a .120 batting average. Owners on FantasyScore may want to avoid Uggla until he has more success at the plate.

Nationals | Dan Uggla in at second

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 08:48:34 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Dan Uggla is in the opening day lineup Monday, April 6, at second base. 2B Yunel Escobar has shifted to third base.

Fantasy Tip: Uggla ($2,000, 4.0% of your cap) is 1-for-6 lifetime against Bartolo Colon, but he's a basement flyer worth taking on FantasyScore. His power potential could yield a big reward for the price.

Nationals | Dan Uggla could opt out of deal

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 11:24:53 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Dan Uggla could opt-out of his minor league deal Wednesday, April 1. He has played well this spring, batting .323 with two home runs, six RBIs and an OPS of 1.042 in 31 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: If the Nationals don't hold on to him, a number of other MLB teams could be in the market for Uggla ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), whose strong performance this spring may be related to offseason treatment designed to restore his balance after he had suffered several undetected concussions. Assuming he is on a major league roster at the beginning of the season, he could be worth a flier in FantasyScore.
