Milwaukee Brewers INF Brooks Conrad is expected to come up from Triple-A Nashville with 1B Mat Gamel (knee) out for the rest of the season. Conrad would likely form a platoon at first base with 1B Travis Ishikawa.

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mat Gamel (knee) is likely headed for knee surgery, as he was walking on crutches in the clubhouse Wednesday, May 2. 1B Travis Ishikawa will see the most time at first base in his absence, with OF Corey Hart filling in occasionally. "Hopefully, the surgery goes well," said Ishikawa. "I've been praying for him since it happened that it would be as good a news as possible. Obviously, it wasn't. I'll continue to pray for him that his recovery is 100 percent and speedy. I don't know if it's the whole season or what not. (A long-term absence) is the way he made it sound."

Milwaukee Brewers OFs Ryan Braun and Corey Hart and 1B Travis Ishikawa all went deep in a losing effort Wednesday, April 25. Braun now has four homers, Hart has six and Ishikawa has two. Braun drove in two runs in the loss.

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mat Gamel (shoulder) is not in the lineup Tuesday, April 24, after being involved in a home plate collision Monday, April 23. He received X-rays on his shoulder Monday, which revealed he didn't suffer a separated shoulder. 1B Travis Ishikawa will start in his place.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Corey Hart (knee) will open the season on the active roster after making a quick return from knee surgery in spring training. Hart played in five straight minor league games and felt fine. He will play in the team's final two spring games this week. Hart will hit fifth in the lineup behind 3B Aramis Ramirez. INF Brooks Conrad will likely earn the final roster spot with 1B Travis Ishikawa starting at Triple-A Nashville.

If Milwaukee Brewers OF Corey Hart (knee) makes the Opening Day roster, INF Brooks Conrad is expected to win the final spot on the bench. If Hart opens the season on the disabled list, 1B Travis Ishikawa would likely take his place until he returns.
