Tue, 06 Mar 2001 02:54:01 -0800 The Rocky Mountain News reports with the possibility of losing QB Gus Frerotte via free agency, the Denver Broncos have contacted former Seattle Seahawks QB Jon Kitna. After meeting with the Bengals later today he is expected to visit Denver next week, unless the Bengals sign him. If Frerotte leaves and the team can't sign Kitna they could turn to Trent Dilfer (Buccaneers) or as previously reported Shane Matthews (Bears). Updating an earlier story, the Broncos took a look Monday at free agent WR James Thrash (Redskins) and CB Walt Harris (Bears). The Broncos reportedly were planning to bring in another CB today. Three other free agents the team is interested in have not been lined up for visits yet, DE Ndukwe Kalu (Redskins), DT Riddick Parker (Seahawks) and DT Brentson Buckner (49ers).
Mon, 05 Mar 2001 22:45:29 -0800 The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins are starting to think about their PK situation and coach Marty Schottenheimer has expressed some interest in free agent PKs Joe Nedney, Doug Brien and Morten Andersen. There have been some reports of the team being interested in Steve Christie, but the others seem to be the Top 3 on the list. Following up Saturday's report, the coach also said the Redskins may be interested in free agent G Dave Szott. The agent representing Seattle DT Riddick Parker said he would like to have his client visit Washington, but no visit is planned at this time. Ralph Cindrich, the agent for free agent QB Gus Frerotte, said he has spoken to Schottenheimer about Frerotte but does not believe the Redskins are ready to act at this time.
Thu, 22 Feb 2001 12:43:10 -0800 Mike Sando reports for the Tacoma News Tribune that the Seattle Seahawks have offered G Pete Kendall and S Jay Bellamy contract offers but both appear to be ready to test the free agency market. The team has talked with DT Riddick Parker, but have not offered him an offer. The team hasn't talked with S Kerry Joseph, WR Sean Dawkins, LB James Logan or LB George Koonce. Dawkins is the only one of them under contract and, as previously reported, may be a cap casualty as the team would save around $2.5 million by cutting him. CB Willie Williams is eligible for free agency because he met incentives in his contract that allows him to void the final four years of his deal.
Thu, 14 Dec 2000 06:39:44 -0800 The Seattle Union Record reports Seattle Seahawks QB Brock Huard (bruised kidney), FS Jay Bellamy (bruised back), DT Riddick Parker (sprained ankle) and DE Lamar King (dislocated shoulder) all missed practice on Wednesday. Huard and King won't play this weekend while Bellamy and Parker are expected to play.
Wed, 13 Dec 2000 13:23:00 -0800 The Seattle Union Record reports Seattle Seahawks DT Riddick Parker (sprained ankle) did not practice Tuesday, but should be able to play this week. DE Lamar King (dislocated shoulder) and FS Jay Bellamy (bruised back) were not even at practice. Bellamy is expected to play against the Raiders but King is not. RB Ricky Watters also sat out practice to rest a hyperextended toe. Watters did not practice at all last week, but played against the Broncos.
