Boston Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli (ankle) took batting practice and pre-game workouts Monday, March 23, and he is expected to resume game action by the end of the week, according to manager John Farrell.
Fantasy Tip: Napoli's injury concerns at age 33 are definitely concerning, which is why he's probably nothing more than a late-round selection in mixed leagues. However, it's hard to find his kind of power that late, and he's also hitting in one of the league's better lineups.

Boston Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli hit two solo home runs Saturday, March 14, against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole.
Fantasy Tip: Napoli had offseason surgery to correct a severe case of sleep apnea, and he reported to spring training with more energy. 2014 was the first season he failed to top 20 home runs in six years, and a bounce-back campaign could be in store. Napoli could be a sneaky power source in the middle rounds of drafts this spring. Batting in the middle of a potent lineup will help produce a spike across all his counting stats, too.

Boston Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli says he has more energy this spring after having surgery in the offseason to correct a severe case of sleep apnea. He isn't feeling sluggish anymore after his condition and nagging injuries left him hitting .248 with 17 home runs and 55 RBI in 2014. "It's been night and day," Napoli said. "Just my energy level. When I wake up and when I get out of bed and get my day started. Before I'd lay in bed until like one o'clock. It's totally different."
Fantasy Tip: Napoli's renewed energy levels and strength could go a long way in helping restore the power he lost last season. Consider him a deep sleeper at the first base position and keep tabs on him during spring contests.

In a radio interview with WEEI, Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said he is leaning towards having OF Hanley Ramirez bat cleanup behind DH David Ortiz, with 3B Pablo Sandoval batting fifth and 1B Mike Napoli batting sixth. "The one thing that clearly stands out is we have balance left- and right-handed," Farrell said. "I have always liked David in the No. 3 hole. You know he is going to come up in the first inning. I think Hanley gives David some protection behind him. Then you start to create some protection, and we want to keep Sandoval on the left side of the plate as much as possible - so if you sandwich him in between Ramirez and Napoli, you start to have a formidable middle of the order where you're going left-right-left-right all the way through there."
