The Milwaukee Brewers named three new coaches Monday, Nov. 15, according to The Associated Press. Jerry Narron will take over as the new bench coach, former Baltimore Orioles pitching coach Rick Kranitz will serve as the pitching coach and Garth Iorg will be the new first base and infield coach.

The Houston Astros hired Baltimore Orioles pitching coach Rick Kranitz to be their minor league pitching coordinator, the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand reports.

New York Yankees minor league pitching coach Scott Aldred and pitching coordinator Nardi Contreras are both candidates to take over the team's pitching coach position, according to the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand and Bill Madden. Baltimore Orioles pitching coach Rick Kranitz is unlikely to receive serious consideration. Former pitching coach Leo Mazzone is also looking for a job.

Baltimore Orioles 1B Ty Wigginton, pitching coach Rick Kranitz and interim manager Juan Samuel were all ejected in the seventh inning Thursday, July 22, against the Minnesota Twins. The Associated Press reported Wigginton was tossed after arguing a call with first base umpire Gary Darling, Kranitz was ejected for shouting words from the dugout and Samuel got the heave-ho after a face-to-face argument with home plate ump Bill Hohn.

Baltimore Orioles CL Alfredo Simon (0-1) allowed four runs on three hits and one walk over one-third of an inning Saturday, May 15, in a loss against the Cleveland Indians, according to The Associated Press. It was also Simon's first blown save in six chances this season. Manager Dave Trembley said he and pitching coach Rick Kranitz would talk to Simon, presumably about pitch selection, although Trembley would not criticize Simon's decision to throw a splitter to OF Austin Kearns through the media. "I don't think that's the way to go, to come out publicly and give an answer one way or the other," Trembley said, referring to whether or not he disagreed with the pitch chosen. "I don't think that's the way to do it."

ESPN.com reports Baltimore Orioles SP Koji Uehara used his new changeup during his outing Tuesday, March 24, in which he struck out seven in 3 2/3 innings pitched. "I hope he's happy with it. He threw it and got instant results," pitching coach Rick Kranitz said. "Anytime you're learning a new pitch or trying a new pitch, it's nice to get some instant success. It looked like it was a natural pitch for him."

The Baltimore Sun reports Baltimore Orioles SP Brian Bass debuted his new changeup grip Sunday, March 15, against the Boston Red Sox. Last week, Bass and pitching coach Rick Kranitz scrapped the old one because he couldn't locate it consistently. He threw with the new grip six to eight times and got one out with it.
