CBS2.com reports former NFL CB Darryll Lewis, who led officers on a high-speed chase that ended outside his parents' West Covina home, was sentenced Thursday, Feb. 16, to nearly three years in prison. Lewis pleaded no contest to charges in two separate cases, including felony counts of evading arrest and possession of methamphetamine and was immediately sentenced to 32 months behind bars. Lewis entered his other no contest pleas to a pair of misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.

The Associated Press reports former NFL CB Darryll Lewis has been ruled competent to stand trial for allegedly evading police during a 30-minute chase in November. Lewis was charged with evading arrest, felony possession of a controlled substance, and three misdemeanors for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of a smoking device. In a second case, Lewis faces charges for allegedly taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and obstructing an officer.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports former NFL CB Darryll Lewis was arrested Monday, Nov. 7, following a car chase. It took five California Highway Patrol officers to wrestle him to the ground to conclude the chase, which began when he was observed committing a carpool violation. Lewis reportedly has medical problems if he is not taking his medication. According to a KCAL9 report, the CHP found drug paraphernalia and evidence of methamphetamine in his pickup truck. Lewis, a second round draft pick in 1991, played with the Houston/Tennessee Oilers from 1991-98 and with the San Diego Chargers from 1999-2000.
