Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent DE John Abraham likely would be used as a pass-rush specialist if he re-signs with the Falcons this offseason. Abraham likely would have to take a pay cut if he does return.

Free-agent DL John Abraham (Falcons) (groin) was on a play count for most of the season after suffering a groin injury early in the year. The team increased his number of plays late in the season and for the playoffs, however. He had a base salary of $8.5 million, and led the team with 9 1/2 sacks. If he returns, it will likely be at a reduced salary and as a designated pass-rush specialist.

Douglas, Meier and Moore were limited in practice Friday, Jan. 6, while the others practiced in full.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said DL John Abraham will play more in the team's Wild Card playoff game than he has all year because there no longer are limits on his repetitions. "We've had him on a play count all season long and now it's an opportunity for us to go and extend his snaps as we get into the postseason," Smith said.
