Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said Thursday, Dec. 23, that P Shane Lechler (hamstring) is improving, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. "I feel good about it right now," Cable said. "How sure I am, we'll see tomorrow or Saturday. But I know he's improving and I feel good about it." Practice squad P Danny Baugher would be promoted to the active roster to play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts if Lechler is inactive.

The Cincinnati Bengals signed free-agent P Danny Baugher (Patriots) to a two-year deal Tuesday, Feb. 5. Baugher signed with the Bengals as a college free-agent out of Arizona in May, 2006, but was waived shortly after training camp began later that year. He was not with an NFL team during the 2007 season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ESPN.com reports free-agent P Danny Baugher (Patriots) has been charged with assaulting his father, Erle, at a fast-food parking lot Aug. 30, one day following his release from the New England Patriots. Baugher was drunk at the time and told police that he "was released by the New England Patriots (Aug. 29) and he was not handling it very well," according to a police report obtained by the Boston Herald. Baugher pleaded not guilty to assault and battery Aug. 30 in Hingham (Mass.) District Court. He was released on his own recognizance with the condition he refrain from domestic abuse. According to the police report, a spat between Baugher and his father inside a vehicle escalated to the point where Baugher punched his father in the face.
