Baltimore Orioles pitching coach Rick Peterson plans to implement some biomechanical research to the team's pitching staff this year in order to determine what is causing certain pitchers to incur injuries. "It's based on Dr. Andrews' research at ASMI (American Sports Medicine Institute) to get an MRI of the pitching delivery to make sure that the measurements in that delivery are falling into normative range to optimize performance and reduce the risk of injury," Peterson said.

The Baltimore Orioles hired former pitching coach Rick Peterson to serve as pitching development coordinator. The job is a newly created position that is a hybrid of the minor league pitching coordinator position and that will provide added responsibilities in areas of players development and the farm system.
