"When a team is on its way to 100 losses, of course the manager is going to be up for discussion," a person with knowledge of the situation said. The team will likely take a few weeks after the season to evaluate all their options. Pitching coach Bob Apodaca has already stepped down and general manager Dan O'Dowd has assumed less responsibilities. The Rockies are also leaning on hiring Mark Wiley as their new pitching coordinator.

Johnson has increased the velocity on his fastball from 92-93 mph last season to 93-96 this spring. Johnson's solid spring can also be accredited to an improved slider and changeup, according to pitching coach Mark Wiley. He is currently sporting an ERA of 3.00 this spring.

Proctor is participating in a special long-toss program designed to help him work through the breaking up of scar tissue in his right elbow. Pitching coach Mark Wiley said he thinks Proctor will be ready for the start of the regular season.
