The Sports Network reports Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Dave Martinez, third base coach Tom Foley, first base coach George Hendrick, bullpen coach Bobby Ramos and pitching coach Jim Hickey will all return to the team next year. Hitting coach Steve Henderson's contract will not be renewed. Also, quality assurance coach Todd Greene's position will be discontinued.

The St. Petersburg Times reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitching coach Jim Hickey visited before the team's June 28 game and said he "feels great" in his recovery from surgery to repair a detached retina in his right eye, though he has a constant headache. Hickey, wearing a bandage over the eye, hopes to be cleared to fly next week and rejoin the team July 3 in Boston.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitching coach Jim Hickey (retina) is scheduled to undergo surgery, Monday, June 25, for a detached retina, according to the Associated Press. The injury is the result of being struck by a golf ball. Hickey will be replaced by minor league pitching coordinator Dick Bosman for a road series at Cleveland next weekend.

The Tampa Tribune's Marc Lancaster reports new Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitching coach Jim Hickey supervised a workout of pitchers at the Raymond Naimoli complex, and Hickey was happy with the turnout he witnessed. "It's a huge help, just to be out here today and see eight or 10 guys, where you can just shake hands for the second or third time instead of introducing yourself on Day One of spring training," Hickey said.
