Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper (diverticulitis) has been released from a Northern Virginia hospital and will return to Chicago to undergo more tests. He had become ill while the team was in Washington, D.C. to play the Nationals last week.

Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said he went behind former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen's back to sign an extension is because Cooper was told Guillen was asked about giving his coaching staff extensions and said "let them sweat." "Cooper needs to look in the mirror," Guillen said. "He didn't back-stab me. I know who he is. He back-stabbed his fellow coaches, the guys he worked with for years. You got family? That's fine. Everyone does. We all knew Coop was (GM Kenny Williams' puppet.)"
