Sat, 19 Jul 2014 09:44:36 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OFs Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier are not in the starting lineup Saturday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Both players are getting the day off and probably will be back in the starting lineup tommorrow.

Dodgers | Carl Crawford on lineup card, not starting

Thu, 10 Jul 2014 15:42:29 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (ankle) is listed as a reserve on the lineup card Thursday, July 10, against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Expect the Dodgers to activate Crawford from the disabled list before tonight's game. Crawford will likely be eased back into playing time, but he was scorching hot before his injury. He is worth considering in all formats. His activation will leave the Dodgers' outfield stocked with options. Scott Van Slyke and Andre Either are likely to see the least playing time going forward. To a lesser degree, Matt Kemp will also see less playing time.

Dodgers | No changes when Carl Crawford returns?

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 13:56:59 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford's (ankle) return isn't expected to change the lineup, according to manager Don Mattingly. There could be a logjam with OFs Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig and Andre Ethier also in the fold.

Fantasy Tip: What does this exactly mean? We're not sure, and we probably won't know until Mattingly starts filling out his lineups. There's a chance he could ride the hot hand. If anything, it likely means Crawford won't see enough consistent playing time to be considered in standard mixed leagues.

Fri, 27 Jun 2014 18:12:42 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (knee) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 27, because of a swollen right knee. Manager Don Mattingly said Ethier should be able to play Saturday, June 28.

Dodgers | Scott Van Slyke playing important role

Tue, 10 Jun 2014 09:48:09 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke hit two home runs in the team's victory Monday, June 9, and currently leads the team's outfielders with a 1.060 OPS. Van Slyke has played in a very limited role off the bench for the Dodgers, often matching up against left-handed hitters. Eleven of his 20 hits have gone for extra-base hits, and he has walked 18 times in 40 games. Manager Don Mattingly said he is considering platooning Van Slyke with OF Andre Ethier in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke's playing time is too thin and unpredictable to make him a fixture in a standard mixed league. But he should be owned in NL-only leagues and considered in a deep enough mixed league, especially if he starts platooning in center with Ethier.

Dodgers | Won't call up Joc Pederson yet

Thu, 29 May 2014 05:45:43 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers refuse to call up OF Joc Pederson until an everyday lineup spot opens up. "We don't feel like it's the right time right now for Joc," said manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: After Carl Crawford's ankle injury, they'll keep rolling with Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier, with a sprinkle of Scott Van Slyke, instead. Pederson is having an MVP-like year for Class AAA Albuquerque, so whenever he does come up, he'll be an instant fantasy add.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier getting consistent PT

Wed, 28 May 2014 08:33:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier is receiving consistent playing time as the team's center fielder lately ahead of the struggling OF Matt Kemp. Ethier drove in the first four runs Tuesday, May 27, and increased his RBI total to 25 on the year. Kemp wasn't in the starting lineup for the fifth straight game Tuesday, and the coaching staff is waiting for Kemp to be comfortable enough in left field to play there on a regular basis alongside Ethier.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp's poor defense in center hasn't done him any favors, either. Ethier should now be owned in most mixed leagues now that he's playing everyday. With Carl Crawford (ankle) injured again, Kemp should be able to start seeing more consistent at-bats in left.

Dodgers | Matt Kemp has starting spot in CF

Fri, 09 May 2014 14:41:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp has taken hold of the full-time starting duties in center field, according to skipper Don Mattingly. That leaves OFs Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier to fight for playing time in left field, with OF Scott Van Slyke a consideration against left-handed pitching. "Yasiel has established himself. 'Dre and Carl are fighting for playing time. Yasiel, he's turned into an RBI guy. He's more patient and getting better pitches to hit. In the long run, he's a 3-4-5 guy. He's showing he's that (Mike) Trout guy. He's shown he's moving in that direction," Mattingly said.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp should be owned in all leagues, but his owners may have been hesitant before to start him because of his slow start and inconsistent playing time. Faith in Kemp is renewed, and hopefully for his owners, it'll mean better production at the plate.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig dealing with lightheadedness

Mon, 05 May 2014 14:40:34 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said OF Yasiel Puig (head) experienced lightheadedness after working out on a stationary bike.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance that Puig may be placed on the seven-day disabled list if he has a concussion. Owners in weekly leagues should consider benching him for this week. Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier likely will receive more playing time while Puig is out, but both are probably owned in most leagues.
