Wed, 22 May 2013 12:51:19 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly didn't deny that he wasn't sending a message by benching OF Andre Ethier Wednesday, May 22, after Ethier made the wrong read on a safety bunt squeeze and was thrown out at the plate Tuesday, May 21. "There's a touch of a difference between saying you're giving your best effort and you're willing to fight for something," Mattingly said. "Some guys go to another level for that price, will do whatever it takes to win a game … that inside, you're not beating me today. There's something there you can't measure with SABR-metrics. You can't put a number on it." Fantasy Tip: Ethier looks to be in the dog house a bit here, but it remains to be seen if that means more playing time for Scott Van Slyke. Ethier's production has dropped in recent seasons, and it may be just another reason why the Dodgers are considering calling up Yasiel Puig and Joc Pederson.
