Dodgers | Andre Ethier eyeing August return

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 17:28:27 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) is expected to return to action in mid-August, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Fantasy Tip: Ethier has spent the entire season on the disabled list after fracturing his leg during spring training. He is expected to serve in a platoon role once he returns, after batting .306 against righties in 2015. Ethier's progress should be monitored by owners in NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier back in August?

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 10:20:04 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) could return Aug. 2, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Fantasy Tip: Ethier has yet to play this year after he fractured his leg in spring training. He'll likely return in a platoon role in the outfield against right-handed pitchers. The lefty swinger hit .294 with 14 long balls and 53 RBI in 142 games last year, so if he sees decent playing time, he can be attractive in deep mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier still idle

Sun, 22 May 2016 03:35:38 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) has not begun participating in any baseball activities, manager Dave Roberts said Saturday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ethier handles right-handed pitchers well (.306/.383/.517 slash line last season), but it's unclear how much playing time he'll receive, and he is still a long way away from returning. He is a potential stash candidate in deep leagues, if you have the luxury of doing so.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier getting bone scan

Wed, 11 May 2016 16:59:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) is scheduled for another bone scan on his leg in a week.

Fantasy Tip: Ethier hasn't played all season after getting hurt during a spring training game. It appears he'll be back at some point in June, though it remains to be seen how much playing time he'll receive in the Dodgers' crowded outfield. He's worth a seat on the bench in some leagues for those who have an extra spot available.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier has 10-5 rights

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 13:52:50 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier has officially earned 10-and-5 status and cannot be traded without his consent.

Fantasy Tip: Ethier was a popular trade topic this offseason, but he proved difficult to move because of his contract. A trade is even less likely now. Ethier fractured his leg late in spring training and was scheduled to miss 10 to 14 weeks. Leave him to the waiver wire in standard mixed leagues. He might be worth stashing in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, since he could have a significant role in the outfield when he's healthy.

Dodgers | LA Dodgers send several players to DL

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 13:13:16 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) was among a number of players placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, April 3. Joining him were SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder), SP Brandon McCarthy (elbow), 2B Howie Kendrick (calf), INF Alex Guerrero (knee), C Yasmani Grandal (forearm), SP Brett Anderson (back), SP Mike Bolsinger (oblique) and RP Josh Ravin (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Los Angeles' pitching depth figures to be tested right off the bat, as Ryi is expected to be out another month while McCarthy and Anderson may not return until the second half. Ethier's absence should make Carl Crawford a full-time player again until around June, making the ex-Tampa Bay Ray standout a fine under-the-radar fantasy option. The other notable name here is Grandal, who should be a serviceable catcher in fantasy if he is healthy. He is expected back in mid-April.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier unable to bear weight

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 14:43:55 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) will not be able to put weight on his leg for six weeks. Ethier is out 10 to 14 weeks with a broken leg.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough break for Ethier, but he could return later this season to help fantasy owners in deep mixed leagues. Until then, some combination of Scott Van Slyke and Carl Crawford will likely platoon in left field for the Blue. Crawford will have the strong end of the platoon, but his decline across the board makes him more of a daily and NL-only commodity.

Dodgers | Andre Ethier has broken leg

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 14:30:42 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) was diagnosed with a right tibia fracture after he fouled a ball off his shin last Friday. He'll miss 10 to 14 weeks, but he will not need surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Tough news for Ethier, who was setting up for a bounce-back season in a possible platoon role. This news opens up the most playing time for Carl Crawford most likely, and he could be part of a platoon with Scott Van Slyke or Kike Hernandez. Look for Trayce Thompson to be a valuable bench option, as well. Crawford is on the decline, though, and injuries continue to hamper him. Because of that and a likely platoon role, he's mainly limited to NL-only and daily formats.
