Freeman played in defensive coordinator Jim Bates' defensive system in Miami the last five years and clearly was the most comfortable and in command at safety during the Packers' minicamps. He started 25 games the past three seasons. Rookie S Marviel Underwood is working primarily at strong safety and he will be battling for the starting job along with veteran safeties Todd Franz and Earl Little.

Abdullah, a second-year player, started most of his rookie season but injuries have caused problems for him this year, head coach Chris Palmer said he's interested in seeing him in other roles.
