"I feel like I'm still young as a football player," said Bloom. "Even when I played my first two years at Colorado, I was also skiing. This is the first time in my life I've focused only on football. I'm happy with my progress, but I know I'm only going to get better."

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Bloom has consulted with RB Brian Westbrook for advice on punt returning. "He's been a great help to me being back there and catching balls. Any time Brian opens his mouth, I listen, because he's phenomenal at making people miss and seeing holes and catching punts, so he's been helpful," Bloom said. Bloom has also consulted with Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith, who has made the Pro Bowl as a receiver and a returner. Free agent RB Reno Mahe (Eagles) introduced Bloom to Smith last year when the Panthers played at Lincoln Financial Field.

Shane Evans, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Bloom (hamstring) did not participate during his rookie year in 2006 due to a hamstring injury that forced him to Injured Reserve, but the second-year wide receiver believes he made great strides in the mental and physical preparation needed for the NFL. "The upside for me is a little more for me than the average football player coming in and being on IR their first year," Bloom said. "I've been away from the game for two years and it's been such an advantage to me to be able to break down film, study guys I respect, run routes, focus on the playbook and do all the things that I couldn't necessarily focus all my attention on if I were playing this year. For me, there is definitely a huge upside."

During his press conference, Philadelphia Eagles special teams coordinator John Harbaugh said WR Jeremy Bloom's (hamstring) status for Thursday, Aug. 17, will depend on his progress over the next day or two. Harbaugh added, "That would be up to the trainers, but I'd say we're getting him up to speed right now, he's on the way. He looks better. He did a lot better today than he did yesterday, a little faster, a little quicker. He's been catching punts all along and he's worked really hard at that. So, he looks pretty smooth catching the punts in the one-on-one drills. Now we get him into the team drills; that's kind of another step."

Zach Berman, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have many candidates for the jobs of returning kicks and punts. RB Reno Mahe, WR Jeremy Bloom (hamstring), FS J.R. Reed, RB Bruce Perry and CB Dexter Wynn will all be competing in training camp for the roles. Mahe and Wynn are more adept at returning punts, whereas Perry and Reed are more talented at kick returning, but all four have been practicing both roles.

Reuben Frank, of Phillyburbs.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles rookie WR Jeremy Bloom (hamstring) wants to get back on the field as soon as he can. "I can jog with no pain," he said. "I can do that all day. And I can run hard with only a little bit of pain, so that's promising. It's going to take a little time, but I don't think I'm that far off." Bloom is fighting a nagging hamstring injury that has sidelined him during the opening days of training camp. "I can't really say how long it will take," Bloom said after Saturday's workout, July 22. "I'm not thinking that way. I'm just trying to get closer each day and hoping to get on the field as soon as possible."

During his press conference, Reid said, "Jeremy Bloom had the MRI. He does have a strained hamstring and we'll take this thing day-by-day."

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles rookie WR/PR Jeremy Bloom (hamstring) has a torn hamstring. Bloom is the most seriously injured of the three players the Eagles have placed on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Bloom explained the chronology of the problem. "I did it in the first minicamp, and then I came back and did it again," Bloom said. "I thought it was just a matter of getting into football shape, but when it happened again in Arizona, I knew something wasn't right." The injury happened again earlier this month while Bloom was working out with QB Donovan McNabb in Phoenix. It's possible he could end up on Injured Reserve and be out for the season.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Philadelphia Eagles have reached a contract agreement with fifth-round draft pick WR Jeremy Bloom. Bloom will sign a four-year, $1.782 million contract. The deal includes a $172,000 signing bonus and minimum base salaries for all four seasons. Bloom will have an opportunity to increase his 2009 base salary, scheduled to be $530,000, through "escalators" that are based on playing time, performance levels and Pro Bowl honors.
