The San Francisco Giants have placed INF/OF Brett Pill (knee), INF Tony Abreu (knee) and P Eric Surkamp (elbow) on the disabled list. All of the moves are retroactive to March 22.

The San Francisco Giants are pleased with the play of OF Francisco Peguero this spring, and they see him as a possible backup outfielder. The team still wants to see 2B Tony Abreu, though, but Peguero may be the front-runner for a bench spot. Peguero is hitting .424 with 14 hits.

Kansas City Royals INF Tony Abreu and INF Irving Falu are seeing extra time in the final games of the season as manager Ned Yost evaluates which player might be the better fit for 2013. "Abreu has more power," Yost said. "They're both very solid defensively. Falu might hit for a little more of an average. He can bunt and hit-and-run. I feel good putting both of those guys at any infield position."
