Fri, 11 May 2012 14:20:00 -0700 The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed C Chris Iannetta (wrist) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 11, and recalled C John Hester from the minors in a corresponding move. Iannetta is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Hester was hitting .266 with two home runs and six RBIs in 18 games with the Class AAA affiliates for the Baltimore Orioles and Angels this year.

C Bobby Wilson will take over the primary catching duties, and the Angels will add another catcher Friday. C Hank Conger (elbow) is on the disabled list with Triple-A Salt Lake and hasn't played since mid-April. Cs Robinzon Diaz and John Hester are other options at Salt Lake. They could also choose to go to Class AA and select C Alberto Rosario.

He grew up in nearby Seminole, Fla., and estimates there are 150 people to see him during the three-game series. C Chris Iannetta played in the first two games of the series, and with a day game following a night game, there is a good chance Wilson could get the nod Thursday. "It'd be nice to play in front of them," Wilson said. "Maybe. We'll see what happens. You never know."

Iannetta came out of a Cactus League game Friday, March 16, when a foul ball nicked his right elbow. He was able to do some throwing Tuesday, March 20. He threw out a would-be base stealer Wednesday.

Wed, 07 Mar 2012 20:22:54 -0800 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver worked almost exclusively with C Jeff Mathis, who is now with the Toronto Blue Jays. Weaver is working with C Chris Iannetta, but said he'll miss his old catcher. "I'm definitely going to miss Jeff. When you've had that kind of relationship with somebody, you pretty much know what each other's thinking and what each other wants to do," Weaver said. "It's going to be a little different, no doubt about it, when you get a new guy - the way he catches the ball, the way he sets up, the way he calls a game." Weaver worked two scoreless innings in his Cactus League debut Wednesday, March 7, against the Seattle Mariners.
