Royals | Alcides Escobar to 7-day disabled list

Fri, 01 May 2015 14:00:58 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (head) is not 100% and was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list Friday, May 1, according to manager Ned Yost. Yost noted they will not take any chances with Escobar, and Yost expects Escobar will fail the impact test he underwent.

Fantasy Tip: Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is starting for Escobar ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) Friday, and Colon projects to see the bulk of starts until Escobar returns. Colon is a nice low-priced flier for FantasyScore players, as he handles the bat well. Through 75 career at-bats Colon is a .307 batting average.

Royals | Alcides Escobar passed concussion tests

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 13:56:21 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (head, cheek) passed his concussion test, but he is not able to move his head up and down sharply, according to manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Escobar ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) to return this weekend. Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is starting at shortstop in place of Escobar Thursday, April 30, and he projects to start until Escobar is able to return. Colon is a viable low-priced flier for FantasyScore players.

Royals | Alcides Escobar optimistic for quick return

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 13:51:56 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (head, cheek) hopes to return to the lineup Friday, May 1, or Saturday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is starting at shortstop in place of Escobar Thursday, April 30, and he projects to handle the position for the entirety of Escobar's ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) absence. This is excellent news for Escobar's seasonal owners, and Colon isn't a bad option for FantasyScore players looking for cap relief.

Royals | Alcides Escobar to avoid DL?

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 10:13:05 -0700

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (head, cheek), who was diagnosed with a bruised left cheek after being hit in the head by a pitch Wednesday, April 29, isn't expected to land on the disabled list, according to manager Ned Yost. However, it's unknown when he might return to action. Escobar didn't go to the hospital and didn't undergo X-rays.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) seems to have dodged a bullet with his injury, but you shouldn't expect him to be back in the lineup against Detroit Tigers starter Alfredo Simon tonight. Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is the likely replacement at shortstop until Escobar returns. He's a low-end second base option at FantasyScore.

Royals | Alcides Escobar tested for concussion

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 18:04:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (face, head) has been diagnosed with a bruised cheek after being hit by a pitch Wednesday, April 29. He is still being tested for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar appears to have dodged a serious bullet, but he isn't out of the woods yet as far as concussion is concerned. You can expect him to probably miss a game or two, and at least a week if he fails the concussion protocol. Christian Colon ($1,900; 3.8% of cap) might start if Escobar is forced to the shelf.

Royals | Alcides Escobar exits after beaning

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 16:36:52 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (head) was helped off the field by trainers after a fifth-inning beaning to the helmet by Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Wednesday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: At this point it is too early to assess Escobar's ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) injury severity, as it may have been a precautionary removal. Check back for further updates. Expect Christian Colon ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is the front-runner for playing time if Escobar misses time.

Royals | Alcides Escobar back in lineup

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:11:50 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (knee) is back in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) missed the last two games due to a knee strain. He should be good to go for your FantasyScore lineups, and he's got a decent matchup against Gibson. Avoiding him in daily lineups tonight after a return from injury might be the smart play, however.

Royals | Alcides Escobar to return Monday?

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 10:12:07 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (knee) is expected to return Monday, April 20, or Tuesday, April 21. He's dealing with a bone bruise on his left knee after a collision at second base last week.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) last played Friday against the Oakland Athletics. If he returns tonight, he'd be facing Minnesota Twins starter Kyle Gibson, which is an attractive matchup. However, you may want to play it safe at FantasyScore and see how he fares after sitting over the weekend.

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 14:20:40 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (knee) was out for the second straight game Sunday, April 19, due to his left knee sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could have seen some action but the team wanted to give him another day to rest. You may want to wait one game to see how he looks before putting him back in when he starts.

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 19:57:38 -0700

Kansas City Royals SS Alcides Escobar (knee) exited against the Oakland Athletics with a mild knee strain Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is off to a solid start, batting .326 with seven runs scored and five RBIs in 10 games. However, check back on his status going forward before using him at FantasyScore in case the knee injury turns out to be serious.
