Reds | Joey Votto fills up the box score

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 20:38:42 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto checked nearly every box he could for his fantasy owners against the Chicago Cubs on Monday, June 27, going 2-for-4 with a pair of homers, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.

Fantasy Tip: Votto didn't quite put on the offensive show Kris Bryant did, but he came awfully close. The 32-year-old nearly matched his power output for the month Monday after entering the night with two homers and six RBI. Still, Votto is batting .325 in June after hitting .229 in April and .200 in May, and he has struggled at home all season, so perhaps this effort will help him pick up his production. His track record is much too good to believe he won't turn his season around eventually.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (illness) returned to the lineup Friday, June 24, hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Votto is hitting just .246 this year, but he's hitting .333 in June. He's a high-end option against Colin Rea.

Reds | Joey Votto available off the bench?

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 13:59:43 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (illness) is still sick, but he could be available off the bench against the San Diego Padres Thursday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds promising that Votto will return to the lineup Friday, June 24, but you'll want to check back for an official word before locking him into your lineups. Votto is having a mediocre season with 39 runs, 11 home runs, 36 RBI, five stolen bases and a .247/.373/.432 slash line.

Reds | Still no Joey Votto vs. Padres

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 12:28:57 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (illness) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 23. 2B Jose Peraza draws into the lineup and is starting in left field and batting seventh against San Diego Padres SP Christian Friedrich Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Votto hasn't played since Sunday, June 19, but he'll likely return sooner than later. Peraza is nothing more than a low-end option in all fantasy formats, and his ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and NL-only seasonal leagues.

Reds | Joey Votto remains out of the lineup

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:33:16 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (illness) is still sick and is not partaking in baseball activities Wednesday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: Votto is having a mediocre season with 39 runs, 11 home runs, 36 RBI, five stolen bases and a .247/.373/.432 slash line, so he remains a viable option in all seasonal leagues. However, after an excellent showing in 2015, fantasy owners were likely hoping for more.

Reds | Joey Votto not starting

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 13:48:40 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis Tuesday, June 21. OF Adam Duvall will start at first base, while 2B Jose Peraza will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Peraza has gone 3-for-15 since returning to the team earlier this month. He is not a great fantasy option at this point, so owners should look for other players to use.

Reds | Tucker Barnhart back in lineup Saturday

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:49:57 -0700

Cincinnati Reds C Tucker Barnhart is back in the starting lineup versus Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Saturday, June 18, batting ninth. In addition, 1B Joey Votto will serve as the designated hitter and bat second, with INF Ivan De Jesus batting eighth and playing first base.

Fantasy Tip: Barnhart is hitless in 14 at-bats this week, so owners should avoid using him during the midst of his slump. De Jesus is hitting .323 with seven RBI in 31 at-bats over the past four weeks and should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Reds | Joey Votto hits milestone homer

Tue, 31 May 2016 00:01:09 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto smacked his 200th career home run Monday, May 30, against the Colorado Rockies. He finished 2-for-5 with a double, the homer and three RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Votto is stumbling along with a .213 batting average, but he still has 29 RBIs to be somewhat productive for fantasy owners.

Reds | Billy Hamilton hitting seventh

Tue, 24 May 2016 15:42:31 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Billy Hamilton was dropped to seventh in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger Tuesday, May 24. 1B Joey Votto is in the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton continues to struggle to find ways on base to utilize his speed (eight stolen bases). He's hitting .254 in May and has only four steals. The move down the order limits his opportunities to run, making him an even weaker daily pick tonight. Votto is struggling himself at the dish, but hopefully for his owners a move to the two-hole can get him going.

Reds | Joey Votto sitting out

Wed, 11 May 2016 11:25:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 11, with 2B Brandon Phillips moving up to the three-hole. 1B Jordan Pacheco is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: BP has a .333-5-9 line the last week. Digest that, and plug him in against Juan Nicasio today. Pacheco is hitting .241 without an RBI and isn't worth much consideration.
