Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto's (quadriceps) exact timetable for recovery remains unclear, but manager Bryan Price said it will be measured in weeks, not months.
Fantasy Tip: At this point, the best fantasy owners can hope for is that Votto is close to 100 percent when he does return and can improve on his .255 average.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto's (quadriceps) long-term health is a concern of the team, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. However, a Reds trainer said he can fully recover.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should be very concerned with Votto. It appears the nagging injuries have seriously impacted his hitting. His .255 batting average would be acceptable if he was keeping pace with the league leaders in extra-base hits. Currently, he is offering mediocre statistics across all categories. His days as an elite hitter might be over.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps. C/1B Brayan Pena was activated from the paternity list.
Fantasy Tip: Todd Frazier is playing first base Tuesday, July 8, with Ramon Santiago at the hot corner. Jay Bruce started at first base Monday, July 7, with Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker in the corner outfield spots. Expect a rotation with Chris Heisey also involved in the short term if they decide to go that route, but the Santiago elevation to the lineup is more likely. All of these subs are desperation NL-only assets.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) took infield practice Monday, July 7, but is on the bench. It doesn't appear as if he'll be put on the disabled list Monday night.
Fantasy Tip: Votto could go on the DL tomorrow. The bottom line is that you probably don't want him in any weekly lineups this week.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) hasn't been placed on the disabled list, yet. Votto was tested today, but the results have not been released.
Fantasy Tip: Votto is still expected to go to the disabled list. Jay Bruce getting the start at first base suggests the Reds could be looking at long-term options to replace Votto. Neftali Soto is slashing .340/.387/.476 at Triple-A Louisville. He is worth an add in NL-only leagues, and he potentially could have mixed league value, if he is recalled and gets everyday at-bats.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) is likely headed back to the disabled list due to a strained left quadriceps.
Fantasy Tip: It's the same injury that has bothered him most of the season. It's unknown how much time this one will cost him, but it could take longer than 15 days. Place him on your DL. Neftali Soto could come up in his place and be worth an NL-only pickup.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) was grimacing in pain after he swung in the last few games. His left leg collapsed in his swing. General manager Walt Jocketty said he thinks Votto can avoid another disabled list stint unless the injury worsens.
Fantasy Tip: Votto probably won't be the player we're accustomed to the rest of the season. He's hitting .263 with no home runs in the 22 games since he has returned.
Wed, 02 Jul 2014 13:01:49 -0700
Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto is receiving the day off Wednesday, July 2.
Fantasy Tip: Votto definitely doesn't look right at the plate right now, and he's already admitted that he probably won't be 100 percent for the rest of the year while dealing with a sprained knee. Expect the Reds to continue to look for ways to rest him periodically.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (knee) has been playing through his strained left knee. "He's certainly not 100 percent," manager Bryan Price said. "We all know he's limited."
Fantasy Tip: Votto's owners should continue to expect lowered production from him if he plays the rest of the year at less than 100 percent. You could see the Reds attempt to rest him more often in the second half of the season, too.
