Chicago White Sox RPs Zach Putnam and Jake Petricka are currently the favorites to work in the ninth inning with a lead, according to manager Robin Ventura.
Fantasy Tip: Both relievers should be picked up from the waiver wire in AL-only leagues if you're desperate for saves. However, they are expected to lose whatever value they have once Matt Lindstrom returns from his ankle injury.

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox RP Matt Lindstrom (ankle) threw all four of his pitches in his bullpen session Saturday, July 12.
Fantasy Tip: Lindstrom remains a good bet to be in the closer mix when he returns and should be stashed if you have DL space.

Chicago White Sox RP Matt Lindstrom (ankle) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session consisting of around 25 to 35 pitches Saturday, July 12, and he's expected to use all of his offerings.
Fantasy Tip: The White Sox have been laboring through the ninth inning in a committee approach headed by Zach Putnam. If you are in the market for saves at midseason, pick up and stash Lindstrom now. He could easily take over the ninth-inning duties by himself if he's completely healthy in a few weeks.

Chicago White Sox RP Ronald Belisario will no longer be the team's closer, according to manager Robin Ventura. RP Jake Petricka received the save Friday, June 27, and is an option to close. Ventura has not decided who will fill the role at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Petricka likely will be in the mix since he got the chance Friday. Zach Putnam and Javy Guerra could also receive save chances in the upcoming weeks. Matt Lindstrom (ankle) could also be back in a few weeks and take over the role. Owners could consider adding one of them at this point but could also wait to see if Ventura names a closer.

Updating a previous report, the Chicago White Sox said Wednesday, May 21, that RP Matt Lindstrom (ankle) will have surgery to repair a tear in the sheath of his left ankle, and the recovery time is three months.
Fantasy Tip: Ronald Belisario worked the ninth inning for a save Tuesday, and he is expected to assume the closer's role in Lindstrom's stead. Another former Dodgers RP Javy Guerra, who has closer's experience, is also a pitcher to watch in potential save opportunities.

Chicago White Sox RP Matt Lindstrom (ankle) will need to undergo surgery on his left ankle and will be out for an extended amount of time, according to manager Robin Ventura. There is no official timetable listed for Lindstrom's return, but Ventura knows it'll be more than 15 days. He is expected to pitch again this year. RP Ronald Belisario closed out a save chance in the game Tuesday, May 20.
Fantasy Tip: Belisario should be your first target for save opps, but he hasn't been that great this year and could share duties with either Daniel Webb or Frank Francisco. Unless you're in a bind in the saves column, it might be best to avoid this situation.

The Chicago White Sox placed RP Matt Lindstrom (ankle) on the 15-day disabled list with a sublexing peroneal tendon in his left ankle Tuesday, May 20, and recalled RP Javy Guerra from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Jacob Petricka filled in last night as the emergency option after Lindstrom left with the injury and picked up his first save. Petricka, however, probably won't be the best bet for most of the save opps in Lindstrom's absence. That honor will likely fall to Daniel Webb or Ronald Belisario, making either fine targets on the waiver wire if you're hunting for saves. Frank Francisco could have an opportunity to vulture some saves, too, but he comes with plenty of risk.
