Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn is confident in CL Addison Reed to open up the season as the ninth-inning pitcher, but Hahn said he wants manager Robin Ventura to have flexibility to use other relievers like RP's Matt Thornton, Jesse Crain and Matt Lindstrom. "Obviously (Reed) established himself last year," Hahn said. "At the same time ... I feel that Robin should have the depth, knock on wood, and alternatives to play the best matchup."

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles RP Matt Lindstrom (knee) was still in pain Saturday, July 21, afternoon after being struck on the bone inside of his left knee by a liner Friday, July 20. He had precautionary X-rays, and he is dealing with some swelling. He is unavailable Saturday, but hopes to be sidelined only a few days.
