The Toronto Blue Jays acquired C Erik Kratz and P Rob Rasmussen from the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, Dec. 3, for P Brad Lincoln.
Fantasy Tip: Kratz is expected to serve as the backup to Dioner Navarro, who recently signed a big deal with the club. Kratz has some decent pop, but is only worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues given his spot on the depth chart.

The Philadelphia Phillies are unlikely to carry three catchers on their 25-man roster after the All-Star break.
Fantasy Tip: Humberto Quintero appears to be the odd man out, with Erik Kratz returning from the disabled list. Expect Carlos Ruiz to continue getting the bulk of the starts behind the plate, with Kratz spelling him once or twice a week.

An MRI on Philadelphia Phillies C Erik Kratz's (knee) left knee revealed a meniscus tear, which will require surgery. Recovery time will be determined after he goes under the knife.

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed C Erik Kratz (knee) on the 15-day disabled list because of a left knee injury. Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) is optimistic he can return in two weeks from his strained right hamstring. He is eyeing June 17 as a return date after he took swings in the cages for the first time Tuesday, June 4, and ran Monday, June 3. Ruiz will likely go on a minor league rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Ruiz is on the waiver wire in most mixed leagues thanks to his injury and his poor start after returning to the season late after a PED-related suspension. He should be picked up again in two-catcher leagues upon his return. Those in deeper mixed leagues that start only one catcher can probably hold off for now. In the meantime, Erik Kratz will handle the bulk of the catching duties in Philly.
