Nationals | Denard Span still not swinging a bat

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 14:45:37 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) has not resumed swining a bat yet, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Michael Taylor ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has manned center field in Span's ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) absence, but Taylor has done little with the opportunity and should be viewed as nothing more than a cavernous mixed and NL-only option. When healthy, Span is worthy of ownership in all fantasy formats, and he can be stashed in the majority of leagues. Continue to check back for updates on his progress and for a return timeline.

Nationals | Denard Span strengthening back

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:07:28 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) is going through a strengthening regimen, and he is close to resuming full workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Span ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) isn't expected to be out for long, and his solid season (.304-5-22 with 11 stolen bases) shows that he justifies being stashed in all leagues, especially since he could return shortly. Hitting leadoff in this potent offense is a plus, mainly in daily formats.

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 12:26:18 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) is out of the lineup for the second straight day Wednesday, July 8. OF Michael Taylor is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Cincinnati Reds SP Michael Lorenzen. OF Matt den Dekker also is starting in left field for the second straight game.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) swings and misses often, but his placement atop the lineup gives more justification for a dice roll with him in your daily lineups against Lorenzen. den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be ignored.

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 18:18:41 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) had an MRI on his back Tuesday, July 7, and he is scheduled to visit a specialist as he tries to curb lingering back spasms.
