The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports a meeting among Texas Rangers brass Saturday, March 28, produced plenty of talk but didn't produce a single roster move, said general manager Jon Daniels. A total of 39 players remain in the major league clubhouse only four days before camp breaks. "We discussed all of our options," Daniels said. "There weren't any obvious cuts. Everybody who's here is either still in the mix for a job or needed to provide depth."

Jesse Sanchez, of MLB.com, reports free-agent SP Ben Sheets (Brewers) has been rehabbing at TMI Sports Medicine in Arlington, Texas, with Texas Rangers doctor Keith Meister. The Rangers remain interested in Sheets if he recovers nicely from his surgery, according to general manager Jon Daniels.

T.R. Sullivan, of MLB.com, reports Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels believes SS Michael Young will be with the team in 2009 as their third baseman. "I still believe there is a likelihood that we can come together on this and put it behind us," Daniels said. "We want to have further discussions with Mike and talk to him about it. We're all preparing for Michael to be an integral part of our team going forward. That's how we're preparing and that's my expectations." It is unlikely that the team will find another club to assume Young's large contract.

"I'm moving forward with Michael being a part of the 2009 Rangers club and beyond," general manager Jon Daniels said. "There has been a level of interest, but nothing that makes sense that will help us win a championship. It's not on the front-burner."

Rangers.MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports the Texas Rangers told SS Michael Young they want him to move to third base in a December meeting to clear a spot for SS Elvis Andrus. Young made it clear he remains adamantly opposed to the idea Sunday, Jan. 11, and has asked to be traded. Young is opposed to the move because he said he was given no choice in the matter. Young said general manager Jon Daniels and manager Ron Washington told him that he would be the Rangers' third baseman in 2009.

T.R. Sullivan, of MLB.com, reports the Texas Rangers will watch free-agent RP Chad Cordero (Nationals) throw this week in California, according to general manager Jon Daniels. The team has reviewed his medical records after Cordero tore a labrum in his right shoulder in 2008.
