Morris News Service's Brian Costa reports the Atlanta Braves intend on making starting pitching improvements a priority for the 2008 season. "Starting pitching improvement is something that we need to work on, and we intend to," general manager John Schuerholz said. "I can't make any guarantees. But we know we have to fix that. That's going to be clearly our key focus this offseason."

Updating a previous report, Mark Bowman, of Braves.MLB.com, reports Atlanta Braves 3B Willy Aybar (hand) was suspended for three games after failing to show up for the Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15, games with the Florida Marlins. "He violated team policy," general manager John Schuerholz said. "We're aware of where he is now, but he wasn't where he was supposed to be."

Michael Morrissey, of the New York Post, reports Atlanta Braves general manager John Schuerholz is not expected to include a no-trade clause if the team engages free-agent SP Tom Glavine in any contract negotiations. "That's our general philosophy," Schuerholz said. "And we have had Hall of Fame players. Let me repeat: We have had Hall of Fame-caliber players on this team, on this roster, over the 15 years that I've been here. And we've never given out any no-trade clauses." Glavine is expected to require a no-trade clause be included in any contract he signs, which would make his re-signing with the New York Mets more likely.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Tim Tucker reports Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is not worried that the sale of the Atlanta Braves from Time-Warner to Liberty Media is taking a long period of time. "The Braves are being very well run by team president Terry McGuirk, general manager John Schuerholz and manager Bobby Cox. The fact that Time Warner does want to sell the club and we seem to be moving toward a resolution — of all the things I have to worry about today, that isn't one of them," Selig said.
