The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's T.R. Sullivan reports the Texas Rangers have extended the contract of senior adviser John Hart. The three-year extension comes onto the five-year deal he agreed to earlier this year, keeping him with the team through 2013.

Updating previous items, Rangers.MLB.com's Robert Falkoff reports Texas Rangers senior advisor for baseball operations John Hart had talked with the Los Angeles Dodgers about their GM job but elected to remain in his current position and withdrew his name from consideration. The Dodgers subsequently went on to hire San Francisco Giants vice president and assistant general manager Ned Colletti as their new GM.

Updating a previous item, Steve Henson, of the LA Times, reports Texas Rangers front-office advisor John Hart has told Rangers GM Jon Daniels that he isn't interested in leaving the Rangers for the vacant GM job with the Los Angeles Dodgers. "My understanding is that John is enthusiastic about his position with the Rangers and plans to stay here," said Daniels.
