The Atlanta Braves would like to keep SP Kris Medlen, but president of baseball operations John Hart said the sides will have to get creative on a contract. He has a projected arbitration price tag of $5.8 million, but Medlen is also recovering from his second Tommy John surgery.

Updating previous items, Rangers.MLB.com's Robert Falkoff reports Texas Rangers senior advisor for baseball operations John Hart had talked with the Los Angeles Dodgers about their GM job but elected to remain in his current position and withdrew his name from consideration. The Dodgers subsequently went on to hire San Francisco Giants vice president and assistant general manager Ned Colletti as their new GM.
