Updating a previous report, Jim Street, of MLB.com, reports Seattle Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi is not under contract for the 2008 season. Since replacing Pat Gillick in 2003, Bavasi has been working on a year-to-year contract. He has yet to hear whether he will be brought back in 2008.

Updating a recent item, the Associated Press' Gregg Bell reports former Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove will serve as an advisor to the team for the rest of the season, according to Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi. Hargrove was in the final year of a three-year deal with the club when he announced his resignation from the managerial position Sunday, July 1. Hargrove plans on spending quality time with his family after being involved in baseball as a manager, coach or player since 1972.

The Associated Press' Gregg Bell reports Seattle Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi has made re-signing OF Ichiro Suzuki to a new deal a top priority for 2007, but he hasn't issued a timetable. "It's a top priority," Bavasi said. "But the timing is not that important. Whatever he and Tony are comfortable with. And whatever our ownership is comfortable with."
