Updating previous reports, Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports New York Giants WR Ron Dixon (knee), who has spent the entire season on the physically unable to perform list, will be moved to injured reserve after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

Tara Sullivan, of the North Jersey Media Group, reports New York Giants WR Ron Dixon (knee) had surgery on Wednesday, Nov. 12, to reconstruct the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Dixon, who, at an earlier date, hinted he might have to retire, will be out for another four to five months.

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Ron Dixon (knee) spoke openly Monday, Nov. 3, about the possibility of having to retire because of the failure of his knee to respond to off-season surgery. Dixon, who missed all of training camp, tried to practice last week but had to stop after two plays. The Giants have until Nov. 19 to decide whether or not to place Dixon on the physically unable to perform list for the remainder of the season or to activate him.

Updating previous reports, Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports New York Giants WR Ron Dixon (knee) practice on Wednesday, Oct. 29, for the first time this season. Dixon, who has been on the physically unable to perform list, only lasted a couple plays, however. "He lasted about two plays, and then we had to pull him out. He's been working out with the trainers, making all the runs and moves and cuts and it felt fine. Then he got out there at practice and about two plays into it his knee kind of clicked and caught and he had to come out." The team now has three weeks to decide whether to add Dixon to the active roster or place him on injured reserve.

KFFL has learned New York Giants WR Ron Dixon (knee), who has been on the physically unable to perform/reserve list all season, is eligible to practice this week but probably will hold off because there was swelling in his right knee last week. Dixon has a three-week window to begin practicing, and then the team has a three-week window to decide whether or not to activate him. Dixon might make a difference if healthy, but it appears that still is a big if.

Updating previous reports, the New York Giants have announced that WR Ron Dixon (knee) has been placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. He is ineligible to return to the practice field or the active roster until after the sixth game of the season.
