He sustained the injury while chasing a wild pitch Friday, April 17, against the Oakland Athletics, when he fell on a weighted sleeve in the Athletics' on-deck circle. General manager J.P. Ricciardi said X-rays were unable to reveal the extent of the injury because his shoulder was too swollen.

"I think a lot was made of the velocity as opposed to the results," Ricciardi said. "The closer, it's more about the results than the velocity at some points.
