Yankees | Brian Cashman hurt in skydiving accident

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman suffered a broken right fibula and a dislocated right ankle in a skydiving accident Monday, Mar. 4. Cashman was taking part in an event to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project. "I'm in great spirits, and it was an awesome experience," Cashman said. "The Golden Knights are first class. While I certainly didn't intend to raise awareness in exactly this fashion, I'm extremely happy that the Wounded Warrior Project is getting the well-deserved additional attention." Cashman is scheduled to undergo surgery.

Updating a previous item, New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes (back) could be out longer than one week because of a bulging disk in his back. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said it could be two weeks before Hughes could resume throwing off a mound.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told a New York radio show Sunday, Oct. 21, that 3B Alex Rodriguez will be in the team's plans for 2013, but Cashman will listen to offers. "It's not like I'm going to hang phones up on anybody who wants to make any overtures about anything," Cashman said. "You're talking about realistic stuff and unrealistic stuff. I don't think it's realistic at all for us to be moving forward with anything but Alex Rodriguez at third base."
