Cubs | Jason Hammel could be free agent target

Sun, 06 Jul 2014 00:27:03 -0700

In a conference call with media, Chicago Cubs general manager Theo Epstein was asked if he would consider SP Jason Hammel, who was traded to the Oakland Athletics on Friday, July 4, should he hit the open market. "You know, Jason left a great impression while he was here, but he's an Oakland A's now," Epstein said. "We just wish him well with Oakland all the way through October."

Fantasy Tip: It was mentioned recently that Hammel wouldn't mind a return to Chicago even if he were dealt, and now that is a reality. Don't be surprised if Oakland tries to keep Hammel under lock and key, as his fantasy value instantly shot up away from the Cubs.
