However, the Red Sox are unlikely to part with their young prospect. "In our minds, he's a top-of-the-rotation starter who we control [contractually] for six years," said general manager Theo Epstein. "He's very high-priced, and we value him tremendously." Doctors were impressed by the condition of Lowell's labrum, according to general manager Theo Epstein. Lowell's recovery is expected to take three to four months, but it could possibly be less than that. Two bony lesions and some tiny portions of the labrum were removed in Lowell's hip. His abductor in the labrum was also released. Dodgers | Team may file tampering charge against Red Sox According to the New York Times, the Los Angeles Dodgers may consider filing a tampering charge against the Boston Red Sox, after OF J.D. Drew opted out of his contract with the Dodgers, and signed with the Red Sox, according to the Associated Press. The Red Sox had tried unsuccessfully to sign Drew two seasons ago, but general manager Theo Epstein denied tampering in order to acquire him. Drew had three years and $33 million remaining on his contract with Los Angeles, before agreeing to a five-year, $70 million deal with Boston, Tuesday, Dec. 5. Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said he had not decided whether to file a charge. Red Sox | Team reportedly makes offer to J. Drew Updating a previous report, Nick Cafardo, of the Boston Globe, reports Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has made a free-agent offer to an unnamed player, however, it is believed to be by many that it was to OF J.D. Drew (Dodgers). Red Sox officials would not deny this report, and Drew's agent, Scott Boras, arrived at the general manager's meetings in Naples, Fla., Monday, Nov. 13. Red Sox | Gonzalez talks continue The Boston Herald's Michael Silverman reports Jed Hoyer, the assistant to general manager Theo Epstein, spoke with the agent for free-agent SS Alex Gonzalez but it appears a quick re-signing of Gonzalez by Boston is not in the cards. Red Sox | Baird hired to assist Epstein The Associated Press reports the Boston Red Sox hired former Kansas City Royals general manager Allard Baird Tuesday, Oct. 31, as an assistant to GM Theo Epstein. Rangers | Clemens attends opener The Associated Press reports SP Roger Clemens was in attendance for the Texas Rangers' opening day ceremonies, and he says he's still leaning toward retirement. Clemens said they just told him the door was open if he wanted to return to Boston.
