Minnesota Twins SP Liam Hendriks (elbow) had arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow about one month ago, general manager Terry Ryan said Monday, Dec. 3. Hendriks will not play for his native Australia in the World Baseball Classic tournament next spring, as he continues his recovery from the operation.

Although the Minnesota Twins have said they would keep players on the roster like C Joe Mauer, general manager Terry Ryan said players like Mauer, 1B Justin Morneau and OF Josh Willingham would be tradeable if the offers were good enough. "We've got interest in all kinds of players in the industry, but unfortunately it's going to take quite a bit to get them," Ryan said.

Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan will return without the interim title for the 2013 season. "The interim label of the general manager position is going to be taken off. I'm going to be the general manager," Ryan said. "I'm glad to get that out of the way. I feel good about moving forward." Ryan also said manager Ron Gardenhire will return.

The Minnesota Twins are happy with the way OF Josh Willingham's season turned out despite injuries that sapped him in the final week. "He's had a career year," general manager Terry Ryan said. "We were desperate for a right-handed bat to put between those two lefties (Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau). When it was apparent that Michael (Cuddyer) maybe was not coming back we started to turn our attention to other right-handed bats, and Josh was at the top of the list."

Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan or assistant general manager Rob Antony will provide injury updates this season instead of manager Ron Gardenhire, per a new team policy this season. Last year, head trainer Rick McWane gave daily injury updates before regular season games. "There are a few reasons (for the change), but No. 1, that's the way I've always done it," Ryan said. "Two, I'd just as soon have Gardy manage the ballclub and not worry about giving his medical (report) every day. Three, Rob and I will be on almost every trip and certainly at home we'll do it. Four, I don't want any confusion in communication description and that's the reasons."
