The White Sox drafted Guillen's son, OF Ozney Guillen, in the 22nd round, and Ozzie Guillen publicly said he'd give Ozney $50,000 just to go to college instead of sign with the team. Williams confronted Ozzie Guillen, and the situation became heated.
