The Houston Astros have signed free-agent SP Armando Galarraga (Orioles) to a minor league contract. He is expected to join Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said he was contacted by free-agent SP Armando Galarraga (Orioles) to see if the Marlins would be interested in signing him. Guillen said he has let the front office know about the inquiry.

Major League Baseball has confirmed that umpire Jim Joyce is not allowed to work any series involving Arizona Diamondbacks SP Armando Galarraga after the two co-wrote a book about the near-perfect game Galarraga threw last season.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Armando Galarraga was to make his first Triple-A start with Reno Saturday, May 28, but the game against Sacramento was rained out. He made his first comments about his demotion beforehand. "This year, I had four bad starts," Galarraga said. "But the first three games I won. I didn't struggle the whole year. Nobody can say that. You win your first three games, you're good. Then I lost the next four and they want to send me down here. I don't think there's anything specific I need to work on. Whatever they say, I don't care."
