Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson plans to carry seven relievers on his 25-man roster, including two long relievers. Ps Ross Detwiler and Tom Gorzelanny are expected to pitch in long relief and get occasional spot starts during the season.

Washington Nationals P Tom Gorzelanny will prepare to work out of the bullpen this season in the long-relief role. "I feel like I'm going to be the long guy, be in the bullpen in some capacity," Gorzelanny said. "I don't really see much chance of making the rotation unless, God forbid, something happens to a few guys – quite a few guys." Although unlikely, the team could try to trade him this spring to open up another pitching spot on the roster.

The Washington Nationals haven't decided on the roles of Ps Ross Detwiler and Tom Gorzelanny, but it is more likely that they use Detwiler as a starter and Gorzelanny exclusively as a reliever.
