Giants | Hunter Pence placed on DL

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 22:58:10 -0700

The San Francisco Giants placed OF Hunter Pence (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 18, due to a strained oblique. The team is hopeful he can return by early September. With Pence sidelined, the Giants outfield consisted of OFs Gregor Blanco, Ryan Lollis and Justin Maxwell.

Fantasy Tip: With Pence back on the shelf Ryan Lollis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Justin Maxwell ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are likely to see an increase in at-bats over the next couple of weeks.

Giants | Justin Maxwell playing left field

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 11:35:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell is back in the lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Sunday, Aug. 16, batting seventh and playing left field.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting .286 this month, this is not a favorable matchup for him. Maxwell is only hitting .195 at home and .159 in day games. He's also hitting 33 points lower against righties than lefties, so FantasyScore owners should look elsewhere for low-cost outfield options.

Giants | Nori Aoki out vs. lefty

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 10:18:38 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki is not in the lineup against Chicago Cubs left-handed SP Jon Lester Friday, Aug. 7. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in left field and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) doesn't deserve your attention on FantasyScore. He's hitting only .221 with seven home runs and 25 RBI on the year and is hitting .230 with just one of his seven homers against lefties.

Giants | Nori Aoki sitting Saturday

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 15:19:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki is sitting out Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Texas Rangers. OF Justin Maxwell will start in left field and hit sixth in the lineup against LHP Cole Hamels.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is hitting a meager .212 against southpaws this season, and he should be avoided for FantasyScore contests.

Giants | Justin Maxwell in left field Sunday

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 11:51:46 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell will start in left field and bat seventh against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin Sunday, July 19. 1B/OF Brandon Belt, who played left field Saturday, July 18, will bat eighth and play first base Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting .215 with six home runs and 23 RBIs through 73 games and he is hitless in three lifetime at-bats against Corbin. You can find better outfield options in FantasyScore for a similar price. Belt ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is only hitting .155 against lefties this year, although he is 3-for-12 against Corbin in his career with a double and an RBI.

Giants | Gregor Blanco out vs. lefty

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 16:34:28 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is not in the lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Robbie Ray Friday, July 17. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in left field and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) continues to be a very weak outfield option on FantasyScore. That trend continues tonight against the lefty Ray, as Maxwell has hit just .220 (13-for-59) with none of his six home runs against southpaws in 2015.

Giants | Justin Maxwell goes off Friday

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 05:17:32 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell went 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle during the Giants' 15-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has flashed upside at various points this season, and throughout his career, but he is too inconsistent at the dish to trust in seasonal formats outside cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. FantasyScore players shouldn't view him as anything more than a desperation flier, either.

Giants | Gregor Blanco resting Friday

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 16:30:45 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is not in the lineup against Philadelphia Phillies left-handed SP Cole Hamels Friday, July 10. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in left field and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has been pretty bad offensively all year, not to mention a .207/.258/.293 slash line with none of his six home runs against lefties in 2015. Avoid Maxwell on FantasyScore against Hamels this evening.

Giants | Angel Pagan not playing

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 10:50:12 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 8. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in left field and hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is a low-end outfield option for daily gamers. He's hitting only .205 (39-for-190) with six home runs and 21 RBI this year. He has a very poor matchup against the dominant deGrom.

Giants | Justin Maxwell out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 14:12:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Justin Maxwell is not starting Sunday, July 5, against the Washington Nationals. OF Gregor Blanco is playing instead.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) looks like he's getting a regular night off because of Blanco's hot bat. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a .444 average and a .333 mark against right-handed pitchers, and the Nationals have Jordan Zimmermann going Sunday. Give Blanco a try in FantasyScore.
