San Diego Padres OF James Darnell (shoulder) sustained a partial dislocation of his left shoulder diving for Los Angeles Dodgers OF Tony Gwynn Jr.'s double in the sixth inning Thursday, May 17. Darnell was replaced by OF Chris Denorfia.

San Diego Padres OF Chris Denorfia hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday, April 11, against the Arizona Diamondbacks, propelling his team to a 2-1 win. Denorfia's drive to center field was tracked down by Diamondbacks OF Chris B. Young, who jumped at the wall. The ball struck his glove, but the ball and glove both went over the fence.

San Diego Padres manager Bud Black said 1B Jesus Guzman and OF Kyle Blanks will split time in left field to begin the season with OF Carlos Quentin (knee) sidelined. OF Chris Denorfia could also see time there and OF Mark Kotsay is likely to receive more at-bats. 3B Chase Headley is expected to hit third in the order, and 1B Yonder Alonso will likely hit fifth.

San Diego Padres OF Chris Denorfia (back) is hoping to play in some minor league games by as early as Thursday, March 15, but manager Bud Black is unsure on Denorfia's status. "There's a little bit of concern since it's really not progressing to the point where we know when he's going to get into games," Black said.

San Diego Padres OF Chris Denorfia (back) hasn't played in a Cactus League exhibition yet, and he could be in danger of missing opening day. SP Robert Erlin (oblique) will also miss at least a week with a "mild left oblique strain." INF Edinson Rincon (foot) could miss a few days with a sore left foot. SS Everth Cabrera (shoulder) and OF Kyle Blanks (knee) are both expected to return to action soon.
