Mon, 06 May 2013 16:32:36 -0700 San Diego Padres OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) is 10 to 14 days away from resuming baseball activities, and swinging a bat will be the biggest hurdle for him to get past. Fantasy Tip: Maybin will likely be back in June, and that's assuming he doesn't need surgery to fix his wrist injury. He shouldn't be owned in mixed universes unless you're using him for one of your DL spots. Chris Denorfia has excelled in full-time duty in center field, and he's a nice stolen base threat in deep mixed formats.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 16:31:33 -0700 San Diego Padres OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) had a cortisone injection in his right wrist Monday, April 22, and he's still wearing a splint. He'll wait to see how his wrist responds before testing it. Fantasy Tip: Maybin's wrist injury seems quite serious, and it would be a surprise to see him back when eligible to return from the disabled list. In the meantime, Chris Denorfia is seeing regular playing time in center field and is making the most of it. At the very least, Denorfia should be owned in NL-only leagues.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:32:11 -0700 San Diego Padres OF Cameron Maybin (wrist), who is dealing with a right wrist impingement, is in a split that he'll wear for the next week. Fantasy Tip: Maybin's injury could take a while for him to recover from. Chris Denorfia has moved over to center field, and Kyle Blanks, along with Jesus Guzman will benefit from increased playing time. The oft-injured Blanks has teased with his power profile before but hasn't been able to stay healthy to deliver. He's had trouble with breaking pitches in the past, too, but should be owned in NL-only formats now that he's back in the bigs and healthy.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:11:46 -0700 San Diego Padres OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) may be the likeliest candidate to be replaced on the roster when the Padres activate 3B Chase Headley (thumb) from the disabled list sometime in the next few days, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Bill Center. OF Carlos Quentin is serving an eight-game suspension, forcing the club to play with only 24 players. 2B/3B Jedd Gyorko is expected to move to second base. INF/OF Alexi Amarista is unlikely to be demoted because he'd be the team's only backup infielder, and he's hot. 1B/OF Mark Kotsay (hamstring) has a mild hamstring strain but can play through it. Maybin is hitting .091 and was a late scratch from the Friars' game on Tuesday, April 16, because of pain in his right wrist, an injury that has bothered him for parts of the last two campaigns. Fantasy Tip: Maybin has tended to be a streaky hitter, but this might also help to explain his slow start. It's unclear how long he'd be sidelined if he did hit the DL, but it'd obviously be for at least two weeks from today. Stay tuned. Chris Denorfia or Kyle Blanks would be the likeliest beneficiaries in terms of PT, and either would deserve consideration in NL-only formats as well as select deep mixed leagues, depending on his PT. Maybin was also bothered by back pain recently but has played since.
