Philadelphia Phillies manager Pete Mackanin has been signed to a two-year contract Friday, March 25, and the deal includes an option for the 2018 season. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The Seattle Mariners have composed a list of managerial candidates of perhaps 20 or more names, but New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi is not among the names. Three names believed to be on the list including Oakland Athletics coach Chip Hale, San Francisco Giants coach Ron Wotus and Philadelphia Phillies new third base coach Pete Mackanin.

The Colorado Rockies are close to naming their next manager Tuesday, Nov. 6, with bench coach Tom Runnells, 1B Jason Giambi, former SS Walt Weiss and Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams the leading candidates for the job. The team also talked with former manager Jerry Manuel, former Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin, Diamondbacks first base coach Eric Young and Texas Rangers minor league manager Steve Buechele.

The Colorado Rockies have narrowed their managerial search down to four candidates, according to a major league source. 1B Jason Giambi, former SS Walt Weiss and Arizona Diamondbacks bench coach Matt Williams will be returning for second interviews in the next few days. Bench coach Tom Runnells also remains a candidate, even though he won't interview this week. Former manager Jerry Manuel and former Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin are no longer in the running.
