Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones hit his 450th career homer Wednesday, Aug. 31, against the Washington Nationals. Jones is now 34th on the all-time home run list and needs just two more to tie Carl Yastrzemski. He's 12 behind Jose Canseco and 15 behind Dave Winfield.

The Associated Press reports New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya will be part of a delegation of baseball officials going to Accra, Ghana, next week to hold a clinic and promote baseball. Minaya will be joined by Hall of Fame outfielder Dave Winfield and former Chicago Cubs manager Dusty Baker.

MLB.com's Doug Miller reports the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City will hold its sixth annual Legacy Awards ceremony at the historic Gem Theater Jan. 7. The ceremony will honor both of the 2005 MVPs, St. Louis Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols and New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez. Bob Watson, Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, Chicago White Sox GM Kenny Williams, Florida Marlins SP Dontrelle Willis and Texas Rangers SS Michael Young are among those who have already committed to attend.
